Article 2. Purpose of this statement
This privacy policy applies to and aims to inform you about the processing of your personal data by law firm Advoring. This privacy statement aims to ensure fair and transparent processing of your personal data.
This statement also applies to the processing of your personal data on or via the website of Advoring, www.advoring.be (hereinafter referred to as “the Website”). It does not apply to the privacy policy of third parties, nor to websites referred to via hyperlinks on the Website.
Article 3. Why do we process your data?
In the context of the services you wish to entrust to your lawyer, certain data must be processed. This data processing is necessary to fulfill these assignments.
These services of your lawyer may include:
- consultancy
- legal assistance
- assistance in mediation
- assistance in negotiations
- etc.
This data may also be used in the context of other assignments closely related to the services you entrust to your lawyer, including:
- maintaining contact with you;
- processing and answering your possible questions;
- client management;
- administration, invoicing, and accounting;
- compliance with applicable legislation;
- etc.
Article 4. What data do we process?
For natural persons, the collected data are at least:
- surname and first name;
- date and place of birth;
- national registry number or identity card number;
- domicile and/or residence address
- telephone number;
- fax number;
- occupation;
- company number and VAT number;
- bank account number;
- copy of identity card (front and back);
- copy of registration in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises.
The same data is collected from any representatives of these natural persons.
For legal entities, the collected data are at least:
- company name;
- legal form;
- trade name;
- registered office and operating office;
- company number and VAT number;
- telephone number;
- fax number;
- email address;
- copy of articles of incorporation and/or (consolidated) statutes;
- bank account number
In addition, all or part of the above-mentioned (personal) data is collected from directors and/or shareholders and/or beneficiaries and/or contact person and/or any other representative(s) of these legal entities.
Article 5. Data Controller
The data mentioned in Article 4 is collected and used with your consent and in accordance with the applicable data protection legislation, including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).
Law firm Advoring is responsible for processing your personal data obtained from you, regardless of how it is obtained.
As the data controller, Advoring takes all necessary and appropriate measures to ensure that data protection is in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.

Article 6. How are your data stored?
All data is stored in the form of a paper file and/or electronic file.
If your data needs to be shared, this will always be done via a secure electronic information exchange system and/or via judicial procedures or the E-Deposit or DPA platform.
Article 7. How long are your data stored?
Your data is stored for the duration of the processing of your file.
After the closure of your file, your data will be stored for a minimum of 5 years, starting from the end of the services of your lawyer.
Article 8. Access to your data
All lawyers of law firm Advoring have access to your file, as well as to your data.
If necessary for the handling of your file, your lawyer may share all data in your file with other lawyers and actors of the judicial world. These include, among others:
- external lawyers or substitutes who provide services to lawyers of Advoring or with whom Advoring collaborates;
- notaries;
- bailiffs;
- bar presidents;
- (court) experts;
- Institutions connected to the legal profession, including the Order of Flemish Bars, local bar associations, the Conference of the Young Bar, the Legal Aid Bureau, etc.;
- accountants and auditors of the lawyers of Advoring;
- the Financial Information Processing Unit of the Federal Public Service Finance
- doctors;
- translators;
- etc.
When your data is passed on to third parties to whom this data may or must be communicated, Advoring is in no way responsible for the further processing of your data by these third parties.
Article 9. What are your rights?
Firstly, you have the right to information about the processing of your personal data. This information is provided to you through this privacy statement.
If you have given your consent to the processing of your data, you can always withdraw this later. The withdrawal of your consent does not work retroactively. In that case, your lawyer will explain how your data will be removed from the file. It is always possible that not all information will be deleted, in particular the data required to take certain legal steps or to defend your interests in court.
You have the right to give or withdraw your consent for the processing and transfer of your personal data.
You have the right to request from Advoring:
- access to your personal data. The first copy of the information you request can be obtained free of charge. For additional copies, Advoring reserves the right to charge a fee;
- correction of your personal data;
- deletion of your personal data;
- limitation of the processing of your personal data;
- to transfer your personal data to another controller. For example, you can ask for your file to be transferred directly to a lawyer who follows up Advoring.

Article 10. Exceptions to your rights
Your right to be informed does not apply when you already have or can reasonably obtain the information you requested, if the data is protected by professional secrecy or if providing the information is impossible or would require disproportionate effort from your lawyer.
Your right to modify or delete data does not apply when a legal obligation requires the retention of this data, when this data is necessary for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information or when this information is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defense of a legal claim.
Article 11. Measures taken by Advoring
Advoring takes appropriate security measures to protect your personal data.
Advoring always cooperates with the competent data protection authorities at their request.
Where necessary or obligatory, Advoring will report all security incidents and data breaches to the Data Protection Authority no later than 72 hours after becoming aware of them.
If this incident poses a high risk to your rights, and under the conditions set out in the General Data Protection Regulation, Advoring will notify you of this.
Article 12. UPDATES
This privacy statement may be changed, within the limits of applicable data protection legislation. You always have access to the most current version via the website.
Article 13. The use of “cookies”
During a visit to the site, ‘cookies’ may be placed on the hard drive of your computer solely to better tailor the site to the needs of the returning visitor. These mini files or cookies are not used to track the visitor’s browsing behavior on other websites. Your internet browser allows you to prevent the use of cookies, receive a warning when a cookie is installed, or delete the cookies from your hard drive afterward. Article 14. Google analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies” (text files placed on your computer) to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) is transferred to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google uses this information to track how you use the website, to compile reports on website activity for website operators, and to offer other services relating to website activity and internet usage.
